Our 3-day trek from Merzouga was hands-down the best and most fascinating part of three weeks in Morocco. What we loved most was the opportunity to visit two different Amazigh semi-nomadic settlements, and to spend one night with a small family on the edge of the desert - we won't soon forget sharing the large dinner platter with our host family under the evening stars, and waking the next morning with goats poking their heads into the window of the pounded earthen room we slept in. Our guide, Youssef, took care to make us comfortable, and keen for us to see and understand a bit about his corner of the country.
